St Oswald’s Church
The text of the Requiem Mass has inspired many composers. The Festival Choir has performed settings by Biber, M Haydn, Mozart, Berlioz, Verdi, Fauré and John Rutter.
And it’s the second time we’ll have performed this profoundly beautiful work by Maurice Duruflé. Based on plainchant but with sumptuous harmonies, drama and consolation are perfectly balanced. The concert includes shorter choral items and solos from our organist Andrew Dean.
